GT Cup Championship Success At Oulton Park

photo 1

John Seale & Jamie Stanley secured the GTC Class Championship of GT Cup at Oulton Park on Saturday.

The FF Corse drivers secured the Championship at the weekend, after a season long battle that went right down to the wire.

The season almost ended in disaster when a start-line incident eliminated a number of cars, narrowly missing the FF Corse Ferrari 458 Challenge. The car, being driven by Jamie Stanley, had to take swift avoiding action, heading onto the grass to miss the accident. At the restart things were much calmer and the car ran to a more sedate 2nd place finish in class to seal the 2014 title.

During the year the pairing took 7 race wins between them and showed great consistency to finish 19 of the 20 races.

John Seale will now take part in the Britcar Trophy races at Donington this weekend (3x 30 minute races). John will be joined alongside by FF Corse drivers, David Mason and Calum Lockie, who will be racing their Ferrari 458 Challenge for Championship honours in the Britcar Endurance Championship, (featuring 1x 90 minute day race & 1x 90 minute night race).

2 Championships in 2 weeks for FF Corse drivers

photo
David Mason & Calum Lockie sealed the overall Britcar Endurance Championship at the weekend, making it two Championships in two weeks for FF Corse drivers.

After 14 separate races and 21 hours of racing, the pairing won the Championship by a single point at the Donington decider.

The final races were not without their dramas, as a pump failure in race 1 (during Calum Lockie’s stint) forced David Mason to complete half of the 90 minute race without the aid of power-steering.

The second race was held at night and a faultless performance saw the #26 car win the GTC class and finish second overall, which was enough to win the overall Championship (along with the GTC Class Championship).

As part of the Championship winning prize David has won a free entry to the Britcar 24hr race, to be held at Silverstone in April and the team is now considering their options.

In addition to the Championship winning races, newly crowned GT Cup GTC Class Champion, John Seale, was making his debut in the GT Trophy Series and duly took a hat-trick of overall race wins in the three 30 minute races. John’s 100% record takes the overall tally of FF Corse race wins to 21 for the season (so far) and 95 overall.
