Driver Spotlight: Tom Fleming
From Karts to becoming 2023 Ferrari Challenge World Champion in 12 months
Karting
Tom started in karting at the age of 13, and showed tremendous talent from the start; during his first season in corporate karting he won every race apart from one, and set the lap record. Tom progressed through the karting ladder quickly from corporate karting and all the way up to the professional scene of karting world championships. Tom saw his best success in the UK collecting numerous Champion and Vice Champion accolades.
Development
In 2022, Tom met with FF Corse to discuss embarking on the journey from karts to cars. FF Corse coached and guided Tom through the process of sitting his ARDS test in order to obtain his FIA licence. On his debut in a Radical RS1, Tom took two P1 finishes in the rookie class and was P2 overall. Tom quickly progressed to a Radical SR3 and won his first race against far more experienced rivals.
Ferrari Racing
The initial plan was for Tom to compete in UK Challenge, but his result in his first ever race in the Racial SR1 suggested that this would not be competitive enough. So aspirations changed to Ferrari Challenge Europe in the Pro-AM class, but after testing our Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo at Silverstone it was decided that Tom would contest his first season in the Pro class, based on the impressive lap times he was setting during the test, combined with his results in car racing to date. Tom had an impressive debut season in Ferrari Challenge Europe, finishing 2nd in the championship standings and he became the 2023 Trofeo Pirelli Ferrari Challenge World Champion by winning the Finali Mondiali.
