The first round of the European Ferrari Challenge took place in Valencia at the weekend with the new Ferrari 488 Challenge cars.
Having won the AM class Championship and World Final last year, Sam Smeeth (Stratstone Ferrari) has now moved up to the PRO class.
The FF Corse team is defending the AM class Championship with two new drivers, Chris Froggatt (HR Owen) and Marc Brough (Graypaul Nottingham). The team continued where it left off last year, Chris achieving two sensational pole positions and experiencing the sweet taste of Champagne with two second place podium visits.
Marc Brough also had an excellent debut race meeting in the AM class. Marc (who incredibly only started racing 15 weeks ago) qualified well and raced through to 5th in race 1 and 7th in race 2.
In the PRO class, Sam Smeeth had a great start to the season, putting in a solid performance against some very experienced and quick professional drivers. Competing in the top class, Sam qualified on the second row for both races and finished 4th & 5th respectively.
The next round of the European Ferrari Challenge and Club Challenge takes place at Monza in three weeks’ time.
